Outdoor clothing is specifically designed for open-air activities such as hiking, trekking, mountain routes or Nordic walking. Unlike casual clothing, it incorporates technical features focused on performance and comfort during prolonged effort: active breathability to move sweat away from the skin, moisture management to help keep the skin dry, flat seams to prevent chafing, and materials that help regulate temperature in changing conditions.

At Lurbel, our outdoor clothing is made in Ontinyent with our own technologies, such as Merino Dry and Bmax, designed to perform for hours without compromising comfort.

For hiking, the most important garment is the base layer: the one in direct contact with the skin. Merino wool T-shirts or highly breathable technical fabrics are the best option because they manage sweat and help prevent the feeling of dampness while you move.

Socks are just as important: a specific hiking sock with zone-based cushioning, effective moisture management and a wrinkle-free fit can make the difference between a comfortable route and days of blisters. Outdoor socks are socks specifically designed for hiking, trekking and mountain activities. They differ from conventional socks in several key ways:

• Zone-based cushioning: greater thickness in high-pressure areas such as the heel, metatarsal zone and toes, combined with ventilation areas to release heat.
• Adapted height: from ankle height, H3, to mid-calf height, H5-H6, to offer protection depending on the type of footwear and terrain.
• Moisture management: technical materials that move sweat away from the skin to help keep it dry during effort.
• Ergonomic fit: a construction that follows the shape of the foot to prevent folds and friction points.

The choice of mountain sock mainly depends on the temperature and the duration of the activity:

• Warm conditions, 15°C to 35°C: socks with Bmax Tetra technology, such as the Tierra family or Mountain Five. Active heat and moisture management for medium to high-intensity routes.
• Cold conditions, from 15°C: socks with Bmax Merino, such as the Taiga family. Mulesing-free merino wool provides thermal comfort without compromising sweat evacuation.
• High mountain routes or long-distance treks: H5 or H6 height models, up to mid-calf, offering greater ankle protection and a larger cushioned area.

As a general rule, it is better to choose a sock slightly warmer than you think you need: the foot works, moves and can cool down quickly during stops and descents.

The Camino de Santiago presents a very specific challenge: daily stages of 20–30 km over several consecutive days, with mixed terrain and variable temperatures. Socks need to withstand frequent washing and recover their properties well.

For the Camino, we recommend:

• Tierra Toe Socks: with toe separation to reduce interdigital friction, one of the main causes of blisters on long stages. Bmax Tetra technology, H4 height.
