Alexis Martín stands out in ultra-distance running through discipline, experience, and the reliability of Lurbel’s technical gear.

In ultra-distance events as demanding as these—where the body is pushed to its limits and the mind must stay strong for dozens of hours—every detail matters. For athletes like Alexis Martín, it’s not just about training hard, but also about trusting the gear that accompanies them every step of the way. In his case, Lurbel garments are part of that trust, built on experience and reliability.

“It’s always ideal to train and compete with clothing that ensures breathability, comfort, and durability,” says Alexis. “I’ve trusted Lurbel for years because I know it performs well both in training and in the toughest races.”

During his participation in the UTMB Blue Trail, where he secured second place overall, the extreme conditions tested both his body and his gear. Sudden temperature changes, icy winds, and continuous physical effort didn’t wear him down—thanks to three key garments: the Volcano thermal gloves, the Cristallo thermal shirt, the Cristallo long tights, and, of course, Lurbel socks.

“The long thermal tights were, without a doubt, a great choice. In cold and windy areas, they made all the difference.”

One of the factors he values most is the thermal versatility of the clothing—something essential in races with large temperature swings.

“I hardly had to change clothes during the event. Lurbel gear adapts really well to different conditions, and that brings enormous peace of mind.”

He also highlights the durability of the material, something he values especially after so many hours of training and competition:

“The garments hold up incredibly well. They show hardly any wear. They’re super reliable, and that’s key for me.”

Beyond technical performance, this edition of the UTMB Blue Trail held deep personal meaning for Alexis:

“It was very special. A high level of competition, lots of runners… and truly tough moments, like the climb from the Parador up to La Rambleta at 3,555 meters, in the middle of the night, with below-zero temperatures. There, thermal gear isn’t just helpful—it’s essential.”

Crossing the finish line, that second-place finish meant far more than just a result:

“It’s the reward for all the daily effort. And not just mine, but also my family’s, who support me in everything. I feel very lucky to experience things like this.”

Even though motivation isn’t always consistent—especially after long workdays as an electrician—discipline is his strongest ally:

“Not every day I feel like training, but I know I have to stick with it. Discipline is what makes the difference in the long run.”

After the Blue Trail, Alexis also completed the UTMB Val d’Aran, another demanding race on the calendar, once again relying on Lurbel’s technical gear to face the challenges of the course.

For those considering getting into ultra-distance running, his advice is clear:

“Enjoy it—because sport is incredible medicine. But also surround yourself with professionals: coaches, nutritionists, physios… That’s the safest way to take on these kinds of challenges.”

Gear That Supports You When You Need It Most

Alexis Martín’s experience shows that real performance is built not just with training and motivation, but also with the right technical gear—gear that adapts, protects, and endures. On every run, in every temperature shift, Lurbel is there: a trusted tool at the service of the ultra-distance runner.
