Lurbel: An ally for road safety education and safe mobility in Ontinyent
At Lurbel, we believe that innovation goes beyond the product. It also means being actively involved in initiatives that build a better future for people and the environment.
That is why, one more year, we join the Road Safety Education programme of the Ontinyent City Council, a project that this 2025 celebrates its tenth edition under the slogan “10 years with you“, and that reaches more than 2,000 schoolchildren in the city.
An environment to learn and enjoy
For the last three years, Lurbel is proud to host one of the key days of the programme in our facilities. This year, more than 2,000 primary school children will enjoy a unique experience that combines training, fun and safety. During the day, the youngest children will take part in a workshop on basic bicycle mechanics organised by Radical Bike, as well as testing their skills on a dexterity circuit and another on road safety education with go-karts, all in a space specially designed for them, where they can learn by playing in a controlled, safe and stimulating environment.
In addition, some of the larger groups will enjoy a guided tour of the Lurbel facilities, where students can learn first-hand how our technical socks are manufactured. From design to quality control, the students will discover the whole process that turns an idea into a high performance product, internationally recognised.
Committed to the community
In the words of the Head of Promotion and Co-founder of Lurbel, Miguel Lurbe:
“Hosting this activity for the third consecutive year is a way for us to give back to Ontinyent everything it has given us. We are excited to create a space where children can learn, enjoy and grow with values of coexistence, safety and respect for sustainable mobility“.
The day also has an important logistical deployment in which the City Council, the Local Police of Ontinyent, the Local Police of Elche, and companies such as Radical Bike participate. The safe transport of students, bicycles for those who do not have their own, logistical support, and high visibility elements for all participants are guaranteed.
Road safety education with purpose
The programme, consolidated as a local benchmark, continues to grow: this year it has managed to involve all the schools in Ontinyent, both public and state schools, and has exceeded the figure of 2,171 schoolchildren, almost double that of previous editions.
As the councillor for Local Police, Juan Pablo Úbeda, explained, ‘cities must be more and more for people and less for vehicles’. And this transformation begins at the grassroots, with education that promotes responsible and sustainable behaviour in urban mobility.
A commitment to the future
In Lurbel, we know that the real performance is in the small details: in how we move, how we take care of our environment and how we train those who will inherit our streets and roads. That is why supporting this type of initiative is not just a collaboration, it is part of our identity as a company committed to local development and collective well-being.
We remain committed to a more humane mobility and to an Ontinyent where road safety is learnt from childhood.
